Rob Abbott passed away on Friday.
His memorial service is at The Church of the Red Rocks on May 9 at 1:00pm.

Service Above Self is the Rotary motto and describes the life of Rod Abbott. A member of the
Rotary Club of Sedona since 1998, Rod was the example of Rotary in Action.
He lived the Rotary Four Way Test through his involvement in Club and community activities.
Rod believed in giving back to his community and is remembered for his leadership of the bond
issue and creation of the Sedona Performing Arts Center.
Rod performed such a variety of administrative duties for the club that it would be correct to say
that his personal contributions ranged from routine to extraordinary. Rod arranged and scheduled
weekly guest speakers; he greeted members and guests at the door, collected lunch monies and
directed restaurant personnel as needed. Rod wrote weekly reports about club activities for
publication, and he handled public relations on many levels; particularly with respect to the
club's various fund-raising efforts. He was well organized and personally dynamic.
Rod’s advice was cherished by every Rotarian, and he was honored with every possible club
recognition including Paul Harris Fellow and Silent Rotarian Awards for his years of
outstanding contribution and service.
Our condolences go out to Rod’s wife, Peg and his family. In honor of our Rotary friend, the
club dedicates this year’s Great Sedona Chili Cook-Off in his memory.
