Rotarians and their guests came out of the heat and assembled at the Barking Frog Restaurant Tuesday noon for their weekly meeting.  President David Simmer greeted the collected group including Dave Thomas and Ron Draxler from the Red Rock Club.  Following the introductions and recognitions Past President Bill Minard inducted, with help from Miki Dzugan (Lindy’s sponsor), new member Lindy Furrow.  
New Chili Cook-off Czar Tim Ernster reported to the gathered members on the first Chili Cook-off meeting for 2015.  Renata Barnwell talked about the Rotary’s Teacher Appreciation Day Monday, August 11 at The Performing Arts Center, Red Rock High School.  Rotarian’s Sue Shannon, Sandy Gardner, Dick Weisbaum, honorary Rotarian Richard Barnwell and David Simmer all participated in scooping ice cream for local teachers.
     Rotarians are asked to mark their calendars for Wednesday evening August 26 when Catherine Moore will host a reception at her home for the visiting District Governor who will be visiting both clubs. The Governor will be attending board meetings and the clubs’ meetings on August 26 and 27.

     The program for the day was presented by Dr. Eric Savage from the Arizona Science Foundation.  Savage gave a stirring message on the Arizona State S.T.E.M. project and encouraged members to volunteer their time in teaching students by first signing up on-line then introducing students to their industries and vocations.   The Rotary Club of Sedona meets each week at The Barking Frog Restaurant in West Sedona on Highway 89A. Rotarians and their guests are most welcome as are those interested in Rotary.
