Meeting Highlights

Sights & Sounds of Russia

Miki and Ken Dzugan celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary exploring Russia. Miki shared highlights of their two week trip during the club's Oct. 11 meeting. Miki and Ken traveled from St. Petersburg to Moscow. In St. Petersburg, Russia's Venice, they toured the palaces of the czars. The most surprising, Miki said, was that the Communists had restored treasures and recreated the palaces destroyed when the Nazis retreated after WWII. Miki showed pictures of the first Faberge eggs. In Moscow, Miki showed photos of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco train stations designed during Stalin's reign. Miki said her favorite place was the island of Kizhi because it was like a step back in time with 18th century wooden churches and buildings.  Club President Jennette Bill announced the book titled "Emma and Julia Love Ballet" will be donated to the Sedona Public Library on behalf of Miki's presentation.
