Last Saturday members of Verde Valley Rotary Clubs and other partners celebrated expansion of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program to preschoolers throughout the Verde Valley. Registration events were held at libraries in Camp Verde, Clarkdale and Cottonwood. Dr. Jean Barton (Left), Imagination Library Committee chair said enrollment has doubled from 400 to 800 children since July 1. “Our goal is 1,500 children by June 2017, which is about half of our under five-year-old children living in the Verde Valley.” Also in attendance: District Governor Danny Messersmith, Interact students from Mingus High and Mountain View Preparatory, and First Things First. Also pictured is Tracey McConnell of the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona.
Lily Davis, the club's outbound exchange student shared her experiences while studying in Belgium. Lily said she was impressed with how she could get around by bicycle and train, giving her a lot of independence without needing to drive. Club President Jennette Bill presented her with an award for how well she adapted to life there.
The Club's Foundation Director David Simmer presented Michelle Behr with two Paul Harris Fellow pins. David thanked her for her support of Rotary's work here and throughout the world.
