Big Brother experience heartwarming

During the club's Sept. 6 program, Big Brother Ken Rouse shares how important his Little Brother Ricky Ontiveros is in his life. Ken has been Ricky's Big Brother since he was eight years old. Over the years they have spent time fishing, going to horse stables, traveling around Arizona, and going to baseball games. Ken met Ricky at a baseball clinic. And Ricky adds playing baseball is his dream. He's currently on his high school team. Ken says BIGS can show kids new things and help them dream. "There are so many kids you can help." Ricky adds, "If he wasn't in my life, I wouldn't be here today."

Also during the program, Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Juliana Goswick (right) said there are 50 kids in Sedona waiting for a Big right now. Bigs serve as friends, role models, buddies, help problem solve and make a difference for their Little Brothers and Sisters. Juliana said Big Brothers Big Sisters has served Yavapai County for 45 years and is in 65 schools and 19 communities. She encouraged everyone to consider incorporating a Little Brother or Sister into their lives. She also recognized Eddie Passov who has been a Big Brother and Kenyon Taylor who currently has a Little Sister.
