Yavapai Food Bank needs volunteers for its Bountiful Kitchen

Yavapai Food Council Executive Director Amy Aossey spoke to the club about the need for volunteers for the Food Council's Bountiful Kitchen. The kitchen provides brown bag meals to 400 children in local schools that would otherwise not have meals available. Aossey said 24 out of 80 Arizona schools do not have commercial kitchens to prepare meals for their students, and adds, one third of Arizona students are food insecure. The kitchen has a critical need for volunteers to help prep and assemble the brown bag meals. Volunteers work two hour shifts or longer between 9 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. especially Monday through Wednesday and on Fridays. To volunteer and/or tour the Bountiful Kitchen contact Amy at (928) 254-8172. Club President Jennette Bill announced the book "On the Farm at the Market" will be donated to the Sedona Public Library in honor of Amy's visit. The Yavapai Food Council is also ready to celebrate its 1 millionth meal to our area's hungry. To read more about Yavapai Food Council please go to: http://yavapaifoodcouncil.org
