History of Rotary in Sedona

Next year Rotary will celebrate 60 years in Sedona. Janeen Trevillyan (right), Sedona Heritage Museum, shared historical highlights of Rotary's impact in Sedona. She said Rotary has a long history of partnering with other organizations. Rotary helped raise funds with several other clubs for the first ambulance. In 1963 it partnered with the Lions Club to bring a carnival to town. In 1964 Rotary held a joint meeting with the Soroptimist club. Rotary also: gave the first TV to the school on Verde Valley Road; in 1969 provided asbestos suits to the Fire Department; and in 1970 presented a check to the Sedona-Oak Creek Fire Department Search & Rescue. Janeen said Rotary has been at the core of taking Sedona from a little town to a thriving rural community. Club President Jennette Bill thanked Janeen for her informative presentation and announced the book "The Invisible String" will be donated to the Sedona Public Library on her behalf.
