Rotary Honor Student Recognized

Sydney Hambrick (center), who attends Red Rock High School, is the first student this year to receive a Rotary Honor Student Scholarship. Sydney was introduced to the club during its Sept. 22 meeting by her science teacher Laurel Romm (2nd left). Sydney says she enjoys math and science, but also likes to create things during her free time. Vastly involved in extracurricular activities, Sydney is president of Interact, a chief in Civil Air Patrol, president of the Robotics Club, a swim team captain, a member of the Police Explorers, and more. Sydney plans to attend college and major in Aerospace Engineering. MIT is at the top of her list. Laurel says, "I expect her to do really, really well." Sydney's parents Rachel (far left) and Dean Jameson (2nd right) were there to celebrate her $500 scholarship. Club President Tim Ernster (far right) also congratulated Sydney on her accomplishments.

Jennette Bill tells about Rotary International Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil

President Elect Jennette Bill told the club about her fabulous trip to Rotary's International Conference held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In addition to beautiful beaches, landscapes, and water falls, Jennette experienced the full flavor of Brazil, including Carnival-like entertainment. Because of her leadership with Rotary Youth activities, Jennette attended pre-conference sessions on Youth Exchange programs. Jennette said 14,500 Rotarians from 150 countries attended the conference. She recommends this experience for every Rotarian and encouraged members to attend district conferences as well.
