Stories

Young bilingual author writes book

Club President Tim Ernster thanks Tanya Mayer (right) for sharing with the club how two young Mexican-Americans, Adrian and Axel (center), are finding success in Sedona. Adrian has written several books, and Axel, who came to the U.S. when he was 12, wrote his first book last fall titled "Rambo Rooster." He thanked Rotary for supporting their efforts.

New District Governor visits club

Club members including Sandra Gardner met new District Governor Paul Pulicken during a social event hosted by Jennette Bill on July 22. Paul will be back to speak to the club on Aug. 18.

Club Auctions off walking stick

Demonstrating typical club humor, Past-president David Simmer auctioned off a walking stick found during the highway cleanup held July 18. The stick raised $30 for club projects. Michelle Behr, highway clean up coordinator, thanked everyone for their participation and the opportunity to do good work. President Tim Ernster said the club's highway clean up permit is renewed for two more years.

Don't forget to take me out to the ball game

John Crawford reminded everyone that tickets are available for Rotary Day at Arizona Diamondbacks on Sept. 13, 1:10 p.m. at Chase Field. If our club sells 30 tickets it will get 4 premium box seats at a 2015 game of choice. These tickets could be auctioned to raise club funds. Tickets are: $45; $25; and $16. For more information contact John. The Diamondbacks will salute Rotary prior to the game. A portion of each ticket sold will go to Polio Plus.
