Club members recognized for participation in Reading Fair

President Tim Ernster recognized club members who were judges during the West Sedona School Reading Fair. Pictured (L-R) Lynette Jennings, Jean Barton, and Victoria Oldham. Sandra Gardner, David Simmer, Judi Smith, Holli Ploog, and Ray Cota also judged the reading of elementary-aged children. Jean, who will be leading the Imagination Library Program July 1, said "I loved seeing which books captured the imagination of the kids and what they thought of them. I would like to see a science fair, too." Tim presented participants with a pin for their volunteering.

Dick Weisbaum shares his travels through Myanmar/Burma

Club members enjoyed a PowerPoint presentation by Rotarian Dick Weisbaum on his travels through Myanmar/Burma. Dick said the Burmese culture began with Budda when he came from India, traveling on the Burma Road. The monastery is the center of cultural life in villages and schools taught by monks are free. Dick shared photos of stupas, shrines, and the countryside. He said the people and children are all happy. Dick's wife Cynthia brought some of her Burmese fans and scarves to the meeting. Tim announced a children's book will be donated to the Sedona Public Library on behalf of Dick's speaking to the club.
