New Humane Society director wants to save lives of pets

New Executive Director of the Humane Society of Sedona Mark Thompson, DVM, shared with the club his goal to save lives of pets. During the Feb. 16 meeting, Mark said the Humane Society's vision is "Building a caring community where every adopted and treatable pet finds a lifelong loving home." The organization serves the entire Verde Valley, servicing 800 animals per year. Mark said they take in 650 to 675 animals, with a "live release" percent of 97.5%, one of the highest in the nation. He added their greatest need is animal care volunteers. They currently have 140 and need more. The Humane Society raises funds through its resale stores, an Auction for the Animals event in April and a Critter Camp in June.   Mark has been a wine maker in Oregon, has been a practicing vet and has worked for PetSmart and Hills Science Diet and Prescriptions.

New club website features shortcut links to Member Areas

Some members need to add their photos (you know who you are). All club and committee members can benefit from keeping club documents up to date now that they are so accessible.
