Meeting Highlights

Club recognizes honor student Augustin Lopez

Red Rock High School student Augustin Lopez was honored by Club President Jennette Bill and District Governor Danny Messersmith with presentation of a $1,000 Rotary scholarship to the college of his choice. Augustin has been on the fast track with school achievements. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the school's newspaper and yearbook, Vice President of Key Club, a member of NHS and a swim team manager. He said his involvement in Key Club and Rotary allowed him to gain community service experience in projects such as blood drives, the Scorpion Food Pantry, and the annual Relay for Life. He also enjoyed his experience with RYLA. "The experience helped me attain a deeper understanding of teamwork and trust as well as all the good that can be accomplished when working together towards a positive goal, whether it be in the community or on a larger scale." He said he is now in the process of applying to be a Junior Counselor for the upcoming camp. Danny encouraged Augustin to continue with Rotary through college and beyond.
