Jennette Bill hands the gavel to new Club President Dave Young

Past President Jennette Bill passes the gavel to incoming President Dave Young during the club's Installation Dinner held June 27 at Sedona Rouge Resort. While this year's Rotary International theme is "Making a Difference," Dave said his theme is "Making a Difference for Members." He adds "I plan to meet with each of you to see what you want out of Rotary." He said he wants to start each meeting with jokes "so we all have fun." Instead of weekly meetings, the club will meet the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Every fifth Tuesday will continue to be a social event. (The Satellite Club will continue to meet the second and fourth Thursdays). Dave said committees and other club activities can be held on other Tuesdays so we can continue "this wonderful thing that Jennette set up." He also congratulated David Simmer for being District 5495 Governor Nominee, the Verde Valley Imagination Library for becoming a 501 (c) (3), and added the club will celebrate its 60th Anniversary throughout the year.

Club celebrates numerous accomplishments during 2016-17

Both clubs had extraordinary accomplishments during Jennette Bill's presidency. Here are just some of the highlights: Establishment of the Village Satellite Club; membership for both clubs climbing 44 to 62, inducting 26 new members; held another successful Chili Cook-Off event, proceeds totaling $25,407; held the first Tequila Tasting event with proceeds of $9,157; awarded a $25,000 grant from the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona for expansion of the Imagination Library program; hosted the first Rotary Sparks event benefiting Imagination Library and Big Park School; and received RI Presidential Citation for excellence in "Avenues of Service" and exceeding standards of  "Rotary Serving Humanity." The club also expanded membership categories to include couples, corporate, and service memberships. Jennette's legacy also includes her passion for member recognition. Jennette honored every Rotarian with a Rotary pin given during birthday celebrations, inductions, and special achievements. Thanks Jennette for all you did!
