Great Sedona Chili Cook-Off most successful yet

The club's May 7 Great Sedona Chili Cook-Off raised the most funds yet, netting $30,000, including $11,000 from the silent auction. Dave Young reported 950 people attended the event and all volunteers showed up at their posts. Cat in the Hat reigned at District Conference 

Twelve club members attended the District 5490 Conference May 13-15 at Carefree Resort. Red and white Cat in the Hats scampered around Saturday night promoting the club's Imagination Library program. Club President Tim Ernster said the club showed well. Tim said Past President David Simmer did a great job speaking about the Rotary Foundation. Tim added it was a great weekend. 
 
Williamson Tapia completes painting to be raffled next meeting
Plein Air artist Williamson Tapia spoke to the club about the upcoming Plein-Air Legacy Event at Tlaquepaque June 3-5. A lineup of local plein air artists will produce paintings for sale during the Closing Reception 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on June 5. Will produced a piece during the club meeting, which will be raffled off during the May 24 meeting. Proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the Sedona Arts Center to help support the Plein Air event. 
 
LMWCC presents check for Beaver Creek Imagination Library
Linda Clark (2nd right) presents a $300 check from the Lake Montezuma Women's Civic Club to Dr. Jean Barton for the Beaver Creek Imagination Library program. Jean said the donation will fund books for 100 children for one year. Linda said the Women's Civic Club is committed to supporting the program for Beaver Creek children. Also pictured is current Il Chair David Simmer and (far right) Club President Tim Ernster. Jean will chair the committee beginning July 1.
 
 
 

Kudos

Club President Tim Ernster recognized LeRoy Townsend with a pin for coordinating food collection for Stamp Out Food Hunger on May 14. LeRoy said almost 10,000 pounds of food was collected. Great job LeRoy!
