Hero efforts for refugee camps around the world

Dr. Julie Williams shared stories about her humanitarian work in refugee camps around the world. Hero, an organization dedicated to assisting people in poverty-stricken areas of the world, builds healthy, sustainable communities. Collaborative teams include health professionals, scientists, researchers, academics, engineers and volunteer lay people. Julie said the organization partners with other non-profits to improve the locales they visit. They have put in solar power and temporary housing. In one location they built a kiln and trained local people to make ceramic water filters. The people also make ceramic items to sell. Julie said volunteers pay for their own travel. Individuals can help Hero's efforts by volunteering and donating. For more information go to: http://heroefforts.org/
