Yavapai County Search & Rescue

Yavapai County Search and Rescue provides life-saving service

Yavapai County's Search and Rescue team saves visitors and locals who get lost and/or injured. Team Captain Rick Baldauf (front-right) said SAR has 32 members and has performed 40 search and rescue operations this year. Rick said SAR was formed in 1986 and has provided three decades of rapid response support to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Department. In addition to rescue operations, SAR can help with urban searches, flood emergencies, evacuations and assist other counties. If lost hiking or injured the team said to call 911. A cell phone can also help them narrow your location. Team members Frank Wirkus (back-left) and Mike Vitek shared some of their rescue stories. Club President Holli Ploog announced the book "Return" will be donated to West Sedona School on behalf of their visit.
